Getting paid in dollars with your LLC: what to prepare

Invoicing, online payments, currency conversion: the basics for receiving your first US income.

Updated November 3, 2026

Prerequisites

To get paid in your LLC's name, you generally need an EIN and a business bank account in the company's name. Online payment providers verify the identity of the company and its beneficial owners.

Invoicing correctly

Your invoices should show the LLC's legal name exactly as it appears in the Articles of Organization, its address and your payment details.

Keep the money separate

Do not mix personal and company expenses: this is essential to protect limited liability and to prepare your returns, including Form 5472.

Converting to your currency

Compare the conversion fees of the providers you use: the differences can be significant. And remember that your LLC's income may be taxable in your country of residence.
